OKCPS Summer Meal Program Provides Free Meals For Children

The OKCPS Summer Meal Program is underway across Oklahoma City, providing free breakfasts and lunches to children throughout the summer months as families navigate the period between school years.

The initiative, operated by Oklahoma City Public Schools School Nutrition Services, is designed to help bridge the summer nutrition gap that many families face when school meal programs pause for the season.

Officials say the program removes financial barriers and ensures children continue receiving healthy meals while participating in summer learning activities and community programs.

The OKCPS Summer Meal Program runs through June 25, 2026.

OKCPS Summer Meal Program Available At Six High Schools

According to Oklahoma City Public Schools Nutrition Services, the OKCPS Summer Meal Program is being offered at six regional high school sites strategically located throughout the metro area.

Participating locations include:

  • Classen SAS High School at Northeast

  • Douglass High School

  • John Marshall Enterprise High School

  • Northwest Classen High School

  • Southeast High School

  • Star Spencer High School

District officials say the selected locations were chosen to maximize accessibility for families across Oklahoma City.

The program is overseen by School Nutrition Services Director Jeffrey Tamayo and operates under federal nutrition guidelines.

OKCPS Summer Meal Program Schedule And Eligibility

The OKCPS Summer Meal Program follows a consistent schedule at all participating locations.

Meals are available:

  • Monday through Thursday

According to the USDA Summer Food Service Program, children and teens ages 1 through 18 are eligible to participate.

Families should be aware of several important requirements:

  • Children must be physically present to receive meals

  • Parents cannot pick up meals for absent children

  • Meals must be eaten on-site

  • No identification is required

  • No student paperwork is required

  • No proof of income is required

Officials emphasize that the program is open to all eligible children regardless of school enrollment status.

OKCPS Summer Meal Program Supports Learning And Food Security

The OKCPS Summer Meal Program operates alongside the district's Summer Learning 2026 initiatives.

District leaders say aligning meal services with educational programs helps students maintain access to both nutrition and academic enrichment during the summer months.

Programs occurring alongside meal distribution include:

  • Literacy activities

  • STEM programs

  • Student safety initiatives

  • Academic enrichment opportunities

According to the Oklahoma State Department of Education Child Nutrition Programs, summer feeding programs play a critical role in combating childhood food insecurity while supporting student wellness outside the traditional school year.

The district encourages families needing assistance this summer to take advantage of the free meal opportunities available through June 25.
