ODOT Plans to Consolidate Maintenance Yards to Save Millions
50 County Yards Built in the 1950s
Oklahoma Transportation officials say the state operates 50 county maintenance yards, many of which were built in the 1950s and now require expensive upkeep or replacement.
ODOT Director Tim Gatz told State Transportation Commissioners the agency plans to transition from single-county yards to multi-county operational facilities.

The next consolidation phase will combine operations at:
Sallisaw
Holdenville
These facilities will begin serving multiple counties under one regional operation.
Officials Say Plan Will Save Millions
Gatz said consolidating facilities will:
Reduce maintenance costs
Eliminate redundant infrastructure
Improve equipment efficiency
Allow for better workforce deployment
The transition will occur in phases over the coming years.
