Moore, OK-Moore Embezzlement — Former Athletic Facilitator Accused of Stealing $60K
What Moore School Officials Allege
Moore Public Schools reports that Courtney Walker, a former athletic facilitator, resigned after allegations she embezzled more than $60,000 from school athletic programs. Officials say the funds were taken from proceeds tied to a Youth Basketball Tournament and a Volleyball State Championship Tournament.
Alleged Use of Funds and Criminal Investigation
Investigators allege much of the money was spent on gambling. The district has referred the case to local law enforcement and is conducting a financial audit to determine the full scope of missing funds and identify any control weaknesses.
Moore Public Schools- “We take any misuse of funds very seriously. We’re cooperating with investigators and taking steps to strengthen oversight of our athletic accounts.”
Protecting Program Funds Going Forward
The district says it will implement additional financial controls, including dual-signature requirements, third-party accounting reviews for tournament revenue and tighter access to cash-handling operations.
Community Impact and Next Steps
Parents and booster groups are being notified; tournament refunds and program budgets are being assessed. The district urged anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
