IKEA Tulsa Opens October 23, Bringing Oklahoma Its First IKEA Store

Oklahoma shoppers will soon have their first opportunity to visit an IKEA store without crossing state lines. IKEA Tulsa officially opens Friday, October 23, 2026, at 7309 S. Olympia Avenue in the Tulsa Hills Shopping Center, bringing the international home furnishings retailer to Oklahoma for the first time. The 51,000-square-foot store will offer furniture, home accessories, personalized design services and Swedish food, along with convenient options for pickup and delivery.

The IKEA Tulsa grand opening marks another milestone in the retailer's national expansion strategy, which focuses on making affordable home furnishings more accessible through smaller store formats. The new location will feature more than 5,000 products on display, with over 3,000 available for immediate purchase, including more than 250 smaller furniture items. Customers can also order larger pieces from IKEA's full product assortment for free in-store pickup or low-cost home delivery.

IKEA Tulsa Grand Opening Brings New Shopping Experience to Oklahoma

The Tulsa location is designed to offer a more compact version of IKEA's traditional shopping experience while maintaining the features that have made the Swedish retailer recognizable worldwide.

Customers will be able to explore fully furnished room settings featuring kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms and living spaces. The displays demonstrate practical approaches to home organization, furniture placement and interior design, allowing shoppers to see how products might work in their own homes.

A central planning area will provide one-on-one consultations with IKEA specialists, helping customers develop solutions for kitchen renovations, storage needs and other home improvement projects. The store will also feature a Swedish food experience, offering familiar favorites for shoppers to enjoy during their visit or take home.

"Opening IKEA Tulsa is an important milestone in our journey to bring IKEA closer to the many people," said Rob Olson, Deputy Country Retail Manager for IKEA U.S.

Olson said the combination of in-store inspiration, digital ordering and flexible fulfillment options is intended to make shopping easier for customers throughout the region.

The new store is part of IKEA U.S.'s broader expansion efforts, supported by a $2.2 billion investment announced in 2023. That strategy includes opening new locations in underserved markets and developing retail formats that offer a more convenient alternative to traditional large-scale stores.

According to IKEA's official U.S. website, the company's approach emphasizes functional design, affordability and products intended to improve everyday life at home.

New Tulsa Store Includes Furniture Reuse and Sustainability Programs

In addition to its furniture and home accessories, IKEA Tulsa will introduce services designed to extend the useful life of household furnishings and provide lower-cost shopping alternatives.

The store will participate in IKEA's Buyback program, allowing customers to return eligible used IKEA furniture under the company's established guidelines. It will also feature an As-is section, where shoppers can purchase gently used, discontinued and other qualifying merchandise at reduced prices.

These programs are part of IKEA's broader sustainability strategy, which considers environmental impact throughout a product's life cycle. The company also offers household products designed to help customers conserve water, reduce energy consumption and minimize waste.

For Tulsa-area residents, the reuse programs may provide additional opportunities to furnish homes affordably while keeping usable products in circulation longer.

The smaller store format also reflects changes in how customers purchase furniture. Rather than requiring every large item to be stocked on-site, IKEA Tulsa will combine its physical showroom with online ordering and fulfillment services.

This approach allows customers to examine materials, compare products and receive design assistance before purchasing larger furnishings that can be delivered or collected later.

The location is expected to serve shoppers throughout northeastern Oklahoma and surrounding communities, particularly those who previously traveled out of state to visit an IKEA store.

IKEA Tulsa Celebrates Opening With Giveaways and $10,000 Community Donation

Grand opening festivities begin Friday, October 23, at 8 a.m., with raffle giveaways, coffee and treats planned for visitors.

The store will officially open for shopping at 10 a.m., with extended grand opening hours continuing until 8 p.m. Regular operating hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.

To celebrate its arrival in Oklahoma, IKEA U.S. is donating $10,000 to Family & Children's Services, a Tulsa-based nonprofit providing mental health treatment, recovery programs and support for children and families throughout the region.

Family & Children's Services provides behavioral health services, substance use treatment and programs addressing family stability and community well-being. The donation reflects IKEA's stated commitment to supporting the communities where it operates.

"We're proud to open IKEA Tulsa and connect with the many people of Oklahoma," said Ben Sandoval, Market Manager for IKEA U.S. "We look forward to serving local families with well-designed, affordable home furnishings and solutions that help create a better everyday life at home."

Customers interested in additional shopping benefits can join IKEA Family, the company's free loyalty program, which offers member promotions, store updates and home furnishing inspiration.

Additional information about store services, products and membership is available through the official IKEA website.

The opening adds a major international retailer to the Tulsa Hills shopping district and gives Oklahoma consumers access to a brand that previously required an out-of-state trip. It also reflects the continued evolution of retail development, as companies introduce smaller stores supported by digital shopping and delivery services.

For Oklahoma shoppers, the October 23 opening represents a significant change in convenience. IKEA's first location in the state brings furniture shopping, design assistance and home furnishing inspiration directly to Tulsa, eliminating the need to travel across state lines for the IKEA experience.
