21 Legislators Ask Attorney General to Review Covid Pandemic Decisions
A group of 21 Oklahoma lawmakers has formally asked Attorney General Gentner Drummond to investigate how the state handled the COVID-19 pandemic, citing concerns from constituents who believe hospital protocols and government decision-making may have contributed to unnecessary suffering.
In a letter sent to Drummond’s office, legislators argue that disruptions in treatment, visitation restrictions, and emergency orders left many Oklahomans questioning whether state laws were followed during the health crisis.
Lawmakers Cite Concerns About Authority and Transparency
The request focuses on whether any decisions by state agencies or hospitals exceeded legal authority, and whether emergency actions aligned with Oklahoma statutes during the height of the pandemic.
Legislators say their goal is to determine whether any laws were broken, or whether mismanagement contributed to preventable outcomes. They emphasized that many Oklahomans continue to express concerns about how hospital protocols affected end-of-life care and patient access.
Attorney General Reviewing Request
Drummond has not yet announced whether his office will initiate a formal review. Similar calls for investigations into pandemic-era policies have surfaced in other states, reflecting ongoing public scrutiny of emergency management decisions nationwide.
A report from Radio Oklahoma’s Ann Roberts further details the legislators’ concerns about emergency powers and medical protocols.
