Janet Hutson Appointed as New Muskogee County District Attorney
Governor Kevin Stitt has appointed Janet Hutson as the new Muskogee County District Attorney, filling the vacancy left after DA Larry Edwards passed away six months ago.
Hutson brings more than three decades of experience as a prosecutor and began her career in the Muskogee County DA’s office as an intern.
Veteran Prosecutor With Long Career in Oklahoma Courts
Hutson has prosecuted hundreds of cases across Oklahoma and is well-known within the district’s legal community.
Her career, however, includes a significant setback: in 2006, her law license was suspended after she pled guilty to a drug charge and lying to a grand jury.
License Reinstated After Counseling and Expungement
Hutson sought treatment and counseling following her conviction, and her record was expunged in 2011.Her law license was reinstated in 2020, allowing her to reenter public service.
She now returns to lead the office where her career began.
