Isaiah Sategna Named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week After Historic OU Opener
Oklahoma wide receiver Isaiah Sategna III has been named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week after a career performance in the Sooners’ season-opening shutout of UTEP.
The Isaiah Sategna SEC Special Teams Player of the Week honor comes after the fifth-year senior totaled a career-high 215 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in Oklahoma’s 51-0 win over UTEP Friday night in Norman.
Sategna scored on an 88-yard punt return and a 34-yard touchdown reception, helping No. 10/9 Oklahoma open the season 1-0 before a major road test against Michigan.

Sategna impacted the game in nearly every phase.
He returned two punts for 115 yards, averaging 57.5 yards per return, and scored on an 88-yard punt return that gave Oklahoma its second touchdown of the night.
He also caught four passes for 76 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown reception that pushed OU’s lead to 34-0 in the third quarter.
His other catches gained 6, 25 and 11 yards.
Sategna also returned the opening kickoff 24 yards, setting up a 12-play, 76-yard Oklahoma touchdown drive.
That production gave him 215 all-purpose yards, the highest single-game total of his college career.

Sategna Punt Return Ranks Among Longest in Oklahoma History
Sategna’s 88-yard punt return touchdown also put his name into the Oklahoma record book.
The return was the seventh-longest punt return in OU history and the Sooners’ first punt return touchdown in three years.
It was also Oklahoma’s longest punt return since 2013 and the second-longest punt return ever recorded by an OU player in a season opener.
His 115 punt return yards ranked as the 12th-highest single-game total in school history and the most by an Oklahoma player in 15 years.
Across the SEC, Sategna finished the opening week as the conference leader in all-purpose yards, punt return yards and all-purpose yards per play, averaging 30.7 yards every time he touched the football.
The weekly conference honors are published by the Southeastern Conference.
This marks the first SEC weekly award of Sategna’s career.
Oklahoma Heads to Michigan for First Road Test
The Sooners now turn their attention to one of the biggest games on their early schedule.
No. 10/9 Oklahoma travels to Ann Arbor, Michigan, Saturday to face No. 16/16 Michigan at Michigan Stadium.
Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. Central on FOX.
Oklahoma enters the matchup 1-0 after its 51-point season-opening victory, while Michigan also enters the game 1-0.
The trip will provide the Sooners with their first road test of the season and a significant early measuring stick against another nationally ranked program.
