Hominy Police Alert Public to Counterfeit Money
Police in Hominy are warning residents about fake $100 bills circulating in the community. Officers say the counterfeit notes mimic real currency but include clear warning signs.
Description of the Fake Bills and Arrest Made
The phony bills feature the phrase “for motion picture purposes” on both sides. Instead of “In God We Trust,” they read “In Prop We Trust.”
Detectives say one arrest has been made, but investigators believe more fake currency may still be in circulation. The department is urging anyone who suspects they’ve received counterfeit money to report it immediately.
Investigation and Prevention Efforts
Hominy Police are working with the U.S. Secret Service and Osage County authorities to track the source of the bills. Local businesses have been advised to use counterfeit-detection pens and inspect currency carefully.
Police Chief John Turner said, “We’ve already recovered several fake notes. They look convincing at first glance.”
Community Awareness and Safety
Residents are encouraged to share the warning on social media and alert elderly family members who handle cash frequently.
The department plans a public meeting next week to educate local merchants on spotting counterfeit currency.
Officials emphasize the importance of staying vigilant, especially as the holiday season approaches when cash transactions increase.
