Google's Major Donation for Schools
Technology giant Google has given $600,000 to Stillwater Public Schools, supporting energy-efficiency upgrades and classroom innovation.
District officials said $500,000 will fund sustainability projects such as lighting upgrades and high-efficiency HVAC systems. The remaining $100,000 will buy new classroom tools for kindergarten through first grade and Stillwater High School.
Superintendent Uwe Gomez said the donation will improve both the learning environment and the district’s energy costs.
Supporting Energy Efficiency
Google operates a major data-center campus near Pryor and has invested heavily in Oklahoma’s renewable-energy infrastructure. Company representatives said the Stillwater donation fits its broader mission to create sustainable, tech-driven education environments.
District facilities director Anna McMillan noted that the upgrades could cut annual electricity usage by more than 15 percent, reducing costs and freeing more money for classrooms.
Boost for Classrooms
Teachers plan to use the new funding to replace outdated equipment, enhance digital learning, and expand STEM programs.
Google’s Oklahoma partnerships have provided millions in educational support over the past decade, including scholarships and training programs for teachers.
