Drummond Files Lawsuit Against Stitt-Linked Dark Money Group

Oklahoma Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Gentner Drummond has filed a lawsuit in Osage County District Court against School Freedom Fund Oklahoma, Governor Kevin Stitt, and additional unnamed parties tied to what the campaign describes as a coordinated political smear campaign ahead of Oklahoma’s June 16 Republican primary election.

According to the lawsuit, the defendants allegedly aired false and defamatory claims through statewide television advertisements targeting Gentner Drummond in an effort to influence Republican primary voters.

The filing claims the advertisements were part of a broader political strategy connected to outside dark money groups and fundraising efforts tied to Governor Kevin Stitt.

According to the petition, the alleged attacks escalated following a fundraiser hosted at the Governor’s Mansion involving out-of-state donors supporting efforts to defeat Drummond in the gubernatorial race.

Drummond Campaign Alleges False Political Advertising

The lawsuit specifically challenges television advertisements accusing Gentner Drummond of supporting transgender activism and improperly directing taxpayer funds toward organizations connected to gender transition programs.

According to the court filing, Drummond “never directed, authorized, or gave” public funds to organizations facilitating gender transition procedures for minors and “never has supported” events such as “trans queen story time for Oklahoma kids.”

The petition further states that funding referenced in the advertisements originated during a previous administration and that Drummond later revoked the organization’s certification after becoming attorney general.

Matthew Parker, campaign chairman for Drummond, said the campaign viewed the advertisements as knowingly false and defamatory.

“This was not tough politics. This was a calculated smear campaign built on fabricated claims and outright lies,” Parker said. “Kevin Stitt and his allies are so desperate to stop Gentner Drummond that they are willing to say anything, no matter how false or outrageous.”

Lawsuit Alleges Coordination With Dark Money Groups

The lawsuit additionally alleges coordination between Governor Kevin Stitt’s political operation and outside organizations involved in the advertising campaign.

According to the filing, School Freedom Fund Oklahoma and related political groups allegedly worked in concert with Stitt allies to distribute the advertisements statewide.

“The timing speaks for itself,” Parker continued. “Governor Stitt publicly pushed this same false narrative while Stitt-linked dark money groups flooded the airwaves with dishonest attack ads. Oklahoma voters are smart enough to see exactly what’s happening here.”

The lawsuit also accuses the defendants of using manipulated imagery and misleading statements designed to damage Drummond’s standing among Republican primary voters.

Drummond Seeking Damages In Osage County Lawsuit

According to the filing in Osage County District Court, Gentner Drummond is seeking actual damages, punitive damages, attorney fees, and additional legal relief allowed under Oklahoma law.

“Oklahoma voters deserve truth, not desperate propaganda from political insiders and dark money groups,” Parker said. “Gentner Drummond has spent his career taking on cartels, corrupt actors, human traffickers, and powerful special interests. He’s not going to be intimidated by Kevin Stitt’s political machine.”

The lawsuit arrives as Oklahoma’s Republican gubernatorial primary intensifies just weeks before voters head to the polls on June 16.
