State Targets Company After Saltwater Purge in Caddo County
A large purge of saltwater and drilling waste has led to state action against an Oklahoma disposal company. The Oklahoma Corporation Commission confirmed it filed enforcement steps against Nject Disposal LLC, which operates a drilling waste injection well near the affected area.
The Commission’s investigation found that a release from the site killed twenty-eight cows and contaminated nearby creeks, killing dozens of fish and other wildlife. The purge happened in Caddo County, one of several regions across Oklahoma dealing with similar environmental problems linked to oilfield waste.
Caddo County Purge Adds to Growing Statewide Problem
Officials said saltwater spills and purges have become common across the state. The mix of brine, chemicals, and drilling fluids can poison soil and groundwater when not contained properly. Each purge forces cleanup work and long-term monitoring that drains both company and state resources.
Environmental teams documented the damage and are still measuring the contamination zone. The Commission said fines, penalties, and cleanup orders are under review.
Oklahoma Continues Oversight on Injection Wells
The Corporation Commission continues tightening inspection schedules for all injection wells. They warn that repeated purges can cause permanent damage to farmland and ranching property. Local ranchers in Caddo County called the event devastating and said recovery could take years.
