Attorney General Drummond Calls for Education Audit
With Ryan Walters’ resignation now official, Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond has ordered a full investigative audit of the State Department of Education.
Drummond said Walters had a “well-established history of mishandling taxpayer dollars” and argued it’s time to uncover how education funds were actually spent.
Focus on Taxpayer Accountability
The audit will be led by the State Auditor’s Office and is expected to cover Walters’ spending decisions, vendor contracts, and use of federal relief funds.
Drummond emphasized:
“The public deserves answers. We cannot allow taxpayer money to be wasted or misused.”
This investigation follows months of criticism from lawmakers, parents, and teachers about Walters’ management. Results of the audit could reshape policy and funding in Oklahoma schools.
