Coal County commissioners voted to suspend the sheriff and undersheriff, but a legal oversight kept both men on the job.

A multi-county grand jury indicted Coal County Sheriff Jason Smith and Undersheriff Jesse Yother on abuse, assault, witness intimidation, and obstruction charges.
