USDA has suspended all live animal imports

Live animal imports through US ports of entry have been suspended. The action by the USDA is a result of concern for the spread of a parasitic worm. The New World Screwworm infects animal tissue and has been detected in remote farms with cattle movement as far as 700 miles away from the border. The USDA says the decision was made out of caution.
