Tulsa Tech Tornado Damage Hits Peoria Campus
An initial assessment of Tulsa Tech tornado damage shows significant destruction at the school’s Peoria campus after severe storms moved through the Tulsa area over the weekend.
Officials say the tornado caused heavy structural damage across portions of the campus, leaving buildings and facilities in need of extensive repairs.
Fortunately, more than 900 students enrolled at the location were not inside the buildings when the storm struck.
Emergency crews and school officials have begun evaluating the full extent of the Tulsa Tech tornado damage as cleanup efforts get underway.
State and City Leaders Survey Damage
Governor Kevin Stitt and Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols visited the campus to survey the destruction left behind by the tornado.
Both leaders said the damage to the Tulsa Tech Peoria campus is severe and will require a long-term rebuilding effort.
Officials estimate the campus could take up to two years to fully rebuild following the storm.
The visit allowed state and local leaders to review the damage firsthand and discuss the steps needed to restore the facility.
Students Safe as Recovery Begins
While the Tulsa Tech tornado damage is extensive, officials say no students were inside the buildings when the storm hit the campus.
The focus now shifts to recovery and rebuilding efforts as crews work to stabilize the damaged structures and begin cleanup.
School leaders are expected to provide additional information on how classes and programs will move forward while repairs are planned.
