A first-term Oklahoma lawmaker says childcare can be an important tool in dealing with the state’s worker shortage. Tulsa Democrat Susan Schreiber got one bill passed, and another is still acting to improve the situation.
Schreiber says the availability of childcare services can be important when a new company is recruited to come to Oklahoma.
“When we are trying to recruit them here, we have to be able to tell them that we have a healthy childcare system,” Schreiber said.
Schreiber has been honored as a Freshman Legislator of the Year for her efforts.
