Spring Alpaca Farm Day Returns to Newcastle

The annual Spring Alpaca Farm Day is returning to Newcastle this weekend, giving Oklahomans a chance to interact with alpacas while learning about fiber production, ranch life, and agritourism.

The family-friendly event takes place Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Magnolia Blossom Ranch in Newcastle.

Organizers say the Spring Alpaca Farm Day is designed to give visitors hands-on experiences with alpacas while teaching guests about fleece harvesting, animal care, and the growing alpaca fiber industry in Oklahoma.

According to Magnolia Blossom Ranch, pre-paid tickets and signed liability waivers are typically required before entry.

Spring Alpaca Farm Day Offers Hands-On Activities

Visitors attending the Spring Alpaca Farm Day will have opportunities to pet, feed, and interact directly with alpacas throughout the ranch property.

Guests are usually provided specialized alpaca feed during the experience, although outside food is not permitted.

One of the most popular attractions allows visitors to guide alpacas through a simple obstacle course to experience the animals’ calm temperament firsthand.

The event also includes educational displays explaining alpaca breeding, livestock care, and the history of alpaca farming.

Organizers say the interactive format helps families and children better understand Oklahoma agriculture and fiber production.

Alpaca Fiber Demonstrations Highlight Ranch Work

The Spring Alpaca Farm Day also features demonstrations showing how alpaca fleece is processed into fiber products.

Visitors can learn how raw fleece is cleaned and transformed into batting, roving, and yarn.

The ranch will also feature videos explaining the annual alpaca shearing process that takes place each spring.

According to the Oklahoma Agritourism Program, alpaca fiber remains popular because it is soft, lightweight, hypoallergenic, and often compared to cashmere.

Educational demonstrations remain one of the signature attractions during the event each year.

Magnolia Blossom Ranch Hosts Year-Round Events

Beyond the Spring Alpaca Farm Day, Magnolia Blossom Ranch hosts additional agritourism events throughout the year.

The ranch regularly offers activities including Alpaca Yoga, interactive pasture experiences, and “Wine & Palette” painting events.

The ranch store will also remain open during the event featuring alpaca fiber products, clothing, scarves, gloves, plush toys, and handmade gifts.

Additional ticket and visitor information for the Spring Alpaca Farm Day is available through Magnolia Blossom Ranch event pages and Oklahoma agritourism resources.
