Senator Seeks Injunction to Block REAL ID Data Transfer to Federal Government
An Oklahoma REAL ID injunction effort is gaining attention as a state lawmaker moves to block data sharing with the federal government.
State Senator Kendal Sacchieri is inviting fellow legislators to join her in filing an injunction against Service Oklahoma, seeking to stop the agency from uploading personal data of driver-license holders who opted not to obtain a REAL ID.
Sacchieri says her concern centers on privacy and consent, arguing that Oklahomans who declined REAL ID should not have their information transmitted to federal databases.

Oklahoma REAL ID injunction targets data sharing
According to Sacchieri, the Oklahoma REAL ID injunction would prevent Service Oklahoma from sharing data with the federal government without explicit authorization. She says several attorneys have volunteered to assist with the legal effort.
Sacchieri acknowledges that the governor has declined to intervene, but says she intends to move forward regardless, emphasizing legislative oversight and individual rights.
Legal questions remain unresolved
Legal experts note that REAL ID compliance involves federal and state coordination, and the outcome of an injunction could have broader implications for data governance and privacy policy.
Service Oklahoma has not publicly commented on the potential injunction.
