State Superintendent Ryan Walters says Oklahoma’s academic performance isn’t where it needs to be. He’s introducing a new accreditation process for schools focused on academic success rather than finances and administration.

A 60-day public comment period is next for the rule change. After that, the board of education will vote, and then it goes before the Legislature.
