Pauls Valley school shooting stopped by principal, classes canceled

Pauls Valley Public Schools are closed today following a shooting Tuesday afternoon at Pauls Valley High School Oklahoma, according to KOCO coverage.

The incident was reported around 2:21 p.m., triggering a rapid response from law enforcement Oklahoma school safety teams.

School officials confirmed that no students or additional staff members were physically harmed during the incident.

Classes were canceled to allow the Pauls Valley school investigation to continue and to give the community time to process what happened.


Principal credited with stopping armed suspect inside school

Authorities say High School Principal Kirk Moore confronted an armed former student inside the building, preventing further danger during the Pauls Valley high school shooting incident.

During the encounter, Moore was shot in the leg and transported to an Oklahoma City hospital. Officials say he is in stable condition and expected to recover.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and is being held on multiple complaints, including Oklahoma firearm-related charges.

Investigators say the quick response helped stop the situation before it escalated further inside the school.


Investigation continues as district offers support services

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) continues reviewing the Pauls Valley shooting investigation, including how the suspect entered the building and the sequence of events.

Officials say more details will be released as the active investigation Oklahoma schools continues.

The district is offering counseling services for students and staff in the coming days as part of student mental health support Oklahoma schools.

School safety and emergency response planning are guided by the U.S. Department of Education school safety programs and supported locally through the Oklahoma School Security Institute safety standards.
