Owasso Murder-Suicide Investigation Continues After Two Found Dead

The Owasso murder-suicide investigation continues after police identified two people found dead inside a home last week as Sara Duffey, also known online as Sara Gilson, and Jeremiah Shawn Duffey.

According to investigators, officers responded to a reported domestic violence call late July 23 and found both individuals dead from apparent gunshot wounds. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities say there is no threat to the public.

Owasso Murder-Suicide Investigation Began With 911 Calls

According to the Owasso Police Department, dispatchers received a 911 call at approximately 11:16 p.m. reporting a domestic violence incident at a home on North 130th East Avenue in Collinsville, which is within Owasso city limits.

Police said dispatchers heard a woman screaming followed by what sounded like a gunshot before communication with the caller was lost.

A short time later, officers received another 911 call from a juvenile who reported that his stepfather had shot his mother. The child had fled to a nearby home before contacting emergency responders.

When officers entered the residence, they discovered two adults dead with gunshot wounds to the head.

Investigators identified the victims as Sara Duffey, who was known on social media as Sara Gilson, and Jeremiah Shawn Duffey. Police are investigating the case as a murder-suicide.

The child was taken into protective custody before being released to the care of the other parent, who was not involved in the incident.

Previous Investigation Involved Child Molestation Allegations

Earlier this summer, the Owasso Police Department investigated allegations involving Jeremiah Duffey after a reported incident during a youth basketball event.

According to police, officers received a report on June 9 alleging that a basketball coach inappropriately touched a child inside an Owasso elementary school gym that had been rented by a travel basketball team.

Investigators identified the coach as Jeremiah Duffey and said another coach reportedly witnessed the alleged incident, intervened and immediately notified the child's parent.

Police said similar allegations involving the same child had been reported across multiple jurisdictions. Because Duffey was a member of the Osage Nation, investigators referred the case to the U.S. Attorney's Office for review under the Federal Major Crimes Act.

Police said Duffey had been accused of lewd molestation of a minor, but no conviction had occurred. An arrest is an allegation, not proof of guilt.

The Owasso Police Department also confirmed Sara Duffey had previously obtained a protective order against her husband.

Influencer Had Large Social Media Following

Sara Gilson had built a significant following on TikTok, where she had more than 78,000 followers and accumulated more than 2.1 million likes across her videos.

Less than two weeks before the shooting, Gilson posted a social media video referencing allegations involving her estranged husband. That post drew widespread attention after news of the deaths spread online.

Authorities have not indicated that the social media post was connected to the shooting or identified a motive.

The Owasso Police Department says the investigation remains active and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
