Tulsa, OK-A Major New Pipeline Project
Tulsa-based ONEOK, Inc. has announced it will be part of the new 450-mile Eiger Express Pipeline, a $3.1 billion project designed to move natural gas from the Permian Basin in West Texas to the Gulf Coast.
The pipeline will carry up to 2.5 billion cubic feet of gas per day, supplying markets near Houston and Corpus Christi and helping meet the rising demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports.
ONEOK’s Role and Ownership
ONEOK will hold a 25.5% stake in the project through the Matterhorn joint venture. Construction is expected to begin soon, with completion targeted for mid-2028, pending regulatory approvals.
Why It Matters
ONEOK CEO Pierce Norton said the project strengthens U.S. energy infrastructure:
“This pipeline’s strategic location offers connectivity to growing natural gas demand markets, helping meet electricity generation needs and international LNG demand.”
Industry analysts say the new line will ease bottlenecks in the Permian Basin and create one of the largest independent natural gas transport systems in the country.
