WIC Benefits Could Face Disruption

The continuing federal shutdown could soon impact more than 80,000 Oklahoma women, infants, and children who rely on WIC benefits.

For now, the Oklahoma State Department of Health says services remain funded and uninterrupted. However, officials warn that if the shutdown drags on, funds will run out.

State Plans Backup Funding

The agency is exploring internal funding measures to keep the Women, Infants, and Children program operating if needed.

A spokesperson said they are “doing everything possible” to prevent service disruption.

The WIC program provides nutritional support, formula, and education to families who need it most. Without it, many Oklahomans could face food insecurity.

Officials say they will notify recipients immediately if funding changes.
