Oklahoma Panhandle Murders: Grandmother Sentenced to Life Without Parole

The woman prosecutors say orchestrated the Oklahoma Panhandle murders of two women in 2024 has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to court records.

Tifany Adams entered a no-contest plea in the killings of Veronica Butler and Jillian Kelly, a case investigated by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office.

Oklahoma Panhandle murders tied to custody dispute

Investigators say Adams, the grandmother of Butler’s two young children, planned the murders during an ongoing custody dispute. Prosecutors outlined how Adams recruited others to carry out the killings while she remained removed from the crime scene.

The OSBI says the investigation involved digital evidence, financial records, and interviews across multiple Panhandle counties.

Other defendants still face court proceedings

Two additional defendants charged in connection with the Oklahoma Panhandle murders have entered plea agreements. Two others still face trials, which prosecutors say will rely heavily on evidence gathered during Adams’ case.

Authorities described the crimes as among the most disturbing murder conspiracies prosecuted in the region in recent years.

Community impact remains significant

Officials say the murders left lasting trauma in the small Panhandle communities involved, prompting renewed discussion about warning signs in domestic and custody-related disputes.
