Oklahoma Generic Drug Settlement: Who Qualifies for $96.5M?

Oklahoma Generic Drug Settlement Could Pay Consumers From $96.5 Million Fund
Oklahomans who purchased certain generic prescription medications between May 2009 and December 2019 may qualify for compensation through approximately $96.5 million in settlements involving six pharmaceutical manufacturers accused of illegally fixing drug prices.
The Oklahoma generic drug settlement is part of a multistate legal effort supported by Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond and attorneys general from 47 other states and territories. A federal court has granted preliminary approval to a plan for distributing settlement funds to eligible consumers who purchased affected medications during the nearly 11-year period.
Oklahoma Generic Drug Settlement Covers Purchases From 2009 to 2019
According to the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office, the settlements involve pharmaceutical manufacturers Glenmark, Lannett, Bausch, Apotex, Heritage and Emcure, the parent company of Heritage.
The companies were accused of participating in schemes that artificially increased prices for certain generic prescription medications, potentially forcing consumers to pay more than they otherwise would have.
The affected medications include various prescription products, ranging from tablets and creams to injectable drugs and intravenous fluids.
Not every generic medication qualifies. Consumers must determine whether their purchases involved drugs included in the settlement and whether those purchases occurred between May 2009 and December 2019.
Federal Court Grants Preliminary Approval to Settlement Plan
The U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut granted preliminary approval to the proposed distribution plan, allowing the settlement process to move forward.
The agreements are part of broader litigation involving allegations that generic drug manufacturers coordinated pricing practices instead of competing independently.
Preliminary approval does not mean payments have already been issued. Additional court proceedings and administrative steps may be required before eligible consumers receive compensation.
Individual payment amounts will depend on the settlement's eligibility requirements, approved claims and distribution procedures.
How Oklahoma Consumers Can Check Eligibility and File Claims
Oklahoma residents who purchased prescription medications during the covered period can review the list of affected drugs and obtain information through the official Generic Drugs Settlement website.

Consumers should review the medication list and claim instructions carefully to determine whether they qualify for compensation.
The settlement provides an opportunity for affected Oklahomans to potentially recover money spent on prescription medications whose prices were allegedly inflated through anticompetitive practices.
