Oklahoma County Jail Names New Administrator

For the third time this year, the Oklahoma County Jail has appointed a new jail administrator. Officials announced that Tim Kimrey will now lead daily operations of the facility after serving as interim administrator for the past month.

The announcement follows another leadership transition inside the troubled jail system. Kimrey stepped into the interim role after the resignation of the previous interim administrator. County leaders said Kimrey’s long law enforcement background and strong leadership experience made him a logical choice to bring stability to the position.

Kimrey Brings Law Enforcement and Military Experience

Kimrey is a Navy veteran and a former Oklahoma Highway Patrol Captain. He also served as the jail’s training director before moving into administration. His combination of field command, operations training, and military service brings a broader skill set to the job.

County officials said his immediate priorities include staff training, inmate safety, and facility security. The jail has faced criticism for overcrowding, staffing shortages, and operational struggles over the past several years.

Goal to Stabilize Long-Term Leadership

Kimrey’s appointment makes him the new jail administrator for a facility that has seen three leadership changes in one year. County commissioners expressed confidence that his appointment could finally bring long-term stability to the management structure.
