Oklahoma City Public Golf Courses Set All-Time Attendance Record

Oklahoma City public golf courses welcomed more golfers than ever before during the past fiscal year, setting a new all-time attendance record with 370,661 rounds played between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026. City officials say the milestone reflects growing interest in golf and highlights the popularity of Oklahoma City's affordable municipal courses.

The record represents an increase of 42,532 rounds, or 13%, over the previous fiscal year, making it the busiest year ever for the city's public golf system.

Oklahoma City Public Golf Courses Continue Record Growth

The five Oklahoma City public golf coursesEarlywine Golf Course, Lake Hefner Golf Course, Lincoln Park Golf Course, James E. Stewart Golf Course, and Trosper Golf Course—all experienced year-over-year growth during Fiscal Year 2026.

Among them, Lincoln Park Golf Course led the system with 97,765 rounds played, making it the busiest municipal course in Oklahoma City.

City leaders say the continued increase reflects both the nationwide growth of golf and the accessibility of Oklahoma City's municipal courses, which provide affordable opportunities for residents of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the game.

"Golf is one of the many ways Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation helps improve quality of life for our residents," said Melinda McMillan-Miller, director of Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation. "These record-breaking numbers show that people are looking for affordable ways to spend time outdoors and stay active. Whether someone is picking up a golf club for the first time or has been playing for decades, our municipal golf courses welcome players of every age and skill level."

Municipal Courses Support Recreation And Local Tourism

Beyond daily play, the Oklahoma City public golf courses host dozens of competitive events each year that attract players from across Oklahoma and neighboring states.

The courses regularly serve as venues for high school state championships, collegiate tournaments, Oklahoma State Amateur qualifiers, city championships, and numerous regional competitions that generate tourism and economic activity for the Oklahoma City area.

LeeAnne Fairlie, chair of the Oklahoma City Golf Commission and a member of the Oklahoma Golf Hall of Fame, said public golf continues to play an important role in bringing communities together.

"Public golf has always been about bringing people together," Fairlie said. "For generations, these courses have introduced young people to the game, created lifelong friendships, and provided places where friends and families can make memories together. Seeing record participation is exciting because it shows more people are discovering everything Oklahoma City municipal golf courses have to offer."

Golf Courses Offer More Than Just A Round Of Golf

Officials say the success of the Oklahoma City public golf courses extends well beyond the fairways.

Each course offers golf lessons, junior golf programs, tournaments, event rentals, restaurants, and outdoor gathering spaces that are open to the public. Membership is not required to play, dine at the clubhouse restaurants, or attend special events hosted at the facilities.

City leaders believe the record-setting participation demonstrates a growing demand for affordable outdoor recreation while reinforcing the important role municipal golf courses play in promoting healthy lifestyles and community connections.

Residents interested in booking a tee time or learning more about lessons, tournaments, or special events can visit OKC Golf or contact any of the city's five municipal golf courses directly.
