Northwestern Oklahoma Tornadoes Strike Overnight

Seven northwestern Oklahoma tornadoes were reported overnight, leaving two people dead and hundreds without electricity as powerful storms moved across the region.

According to the Major County Sheriff’s Office, a mother and daughter were killed when their vehicle was struck by tornadic weather while traveling on Highway 60 near Fairview.

Authorities say the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

Emergency officials say the victims were inside their vehicle when severe weather moved through the area.

The Major County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the fatalities and said first responders were dispatched to the scene after reports of a crash involving severe storm conditions.

Officials have not yet released the identities of the victims.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues investigating the circumstances surrounding the deadly crash.

Storm Damage Reported Across Northwest Oklahoma

Severe weather also caused damage across nearby communities.

Officials report structural damage and downed power lines in Grant County, where strong winds and possible tornado activity impacted homes and other buildings.

Utility crews have been working to restore electricity to hundreds of residents affected by the storms.

Emergency management officials are continuing to assess damage across the region.

More Severe Weather Possible

Meteorologists say severe weather remains possible across Oklahoma, particularly in the eastern portion of the state.

The National Weather Service has indicated a moderate to low risk of severe storms later today, meaning additional strong winds, hail, or isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

Residents are encouraged to monitor weather alerts and have a severe weather safety plan in place.
