The official temperatures are still being verified, but for now, Monday and Tuesday this week are being called the hottest days ever recorded on planet Earth. Scientists using the global average temperature report may fall into the same category. University of Oklahoma Meteorology Professor Jason Furtado provides details.

“Thirty years ago, these things were not happening every year,” Furtado said. “Now, we are seeing multiple billion dollars plus lost weather events….”
