Mississippi Murder Suspect Arrested In Sallisaw Awaiting Extradition
A Mississippi murder suspect arrested in Sallisaw is awaiting extradition after U.S. Marshals tracked him to an eastern Oklahoma motel following a fatal stabbing investigation in Mississippi.
Carnelius Hudson, 34, was taken into custody Monday in Sallisaw without incident after investigators determined he had fled Mississippi following the death of a woman in Ruleville. Hudson is currently being held in the Sequoyah County Jail while authorities begin the extradition process to return him to Mississippi. An arrest is an allegation, not a conviction, and Hudson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Mississippi Murder Suspect Arrested In Sallisaw After Multi-State Manhunt
The investigation began Monday morning after officers with the Ruleville Police Department responded to a home near the 300 block of Oscar Street, where they discovered an unresponsive woman with apparent stab wounds.
A murder warrant for Hudson was issued within hours as investigators identified him as the primary suspect in the homicide.
Hudson had already fled the state by the time the warrant was issued. Investigators with the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force determined he had traveled to Oklahoma and requested assistance from deputy U.S. Marshals assigned to the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
Federal investigators located Hudson at a motel in Sallisaw, where surveillance teams monitored the property before positively identifying him as he left in a vehicle. Marshals then arrested Hudson without incident.
Oklahoma Arrest Ends Cross-State Search
Hudson was transported to the Sequoyah County Jail, where he remains in custody awaiting extradition proceedings that will return him to Mississippi to face the pending murder allegation.
The homicide investigation remains active as detectives continue gathering evidence surrounding the death of the woman found inside the Ruleville residence.
No additional information about the victim has been released beyond confirmation that she died from apparent stab wounds.
