Miss Oklahoma Partners With OBN To Promote Drug Prevention In Schools

A new partnership between Miss Oklahoma OBN partnership leaders and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control will send the state's titleholder into classrooms and communities across Oklahoma to promote drug and alcohol prevention.

The multi-year initiative pairs the statewide scholarship organization with OBN in an effort to expand youth substance abuse education. Under the agreement, future Miss Oklahoma titleholders will receive specialized training from OBN before speaking with students in schools and youth organizations across all 77 counties.

Miss Oklahoma OBN Partnership Will Reach Students Statewide

The Miss Oklahoma OBN partnership calls for each titleholder to complete training developed by OBN agents and prevention specialists before representing the agency during public appearances.

Rather than delivering general wellness presentations, Miss Oklahoma will present drug and alcohol prevention information based on educational materials created by the bureau. The outreach is expected to focus heavily on K-12 schools, community organizations and youth events throughout Oklahoma.

According to the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control, the partnership is designed to strengthen prevention efforts by combining the agency's expertise with Miss Oklahoma's statewide platform. Additional information about OBN's prevention programs is available at https://www.obn.ok.gov.

Partnership Builds On Existing Relationship

The agreement follows the work of Lauren Frost, who was crowned Miss Oklahoma 2024 and also serves as an administrative assistant for OBN.

During her year as Miss Oklahoma, Frost participated in substance abuse prevention presentations that helped demonstrate how the organization and the bureau could work together to reach young audiences across the state.

The new agreement makes that collaboration an official, long-term partnership that future titleholders will continue.

The Miss Oklahoma Organization announced Jaselyn Rossman, an Oklahoma State University graduate, as Miss Oklahoma 2026 following the June 13 competition. Information about the organization and its titleholders is available at https://www.missoklahoma.org.

New Miss Oklahoma Will Begin Statewide Outreach

Rossman will become the first Miss Oklahoma to serve under the newly formalized agreement with OBN.

Her community service initiative, "More Than Able," focuses on helping remove employment barriers for vulnerable populations. OBN officials said incorporating substance abuse prevention into her statewide appearances complements that mission as addiction continues to impact families and communities across Oklahoma.

The partnership also comes as state leaders continue expanding efforts to address opioid abuse and addiction prevention through education. Last week, Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced the Oklahoma READY initiative, which will bring evidence-based prevention curriculum into middle and high schools using opioid settlement funding.

Together, the two efforts represent Oklahoma's continued focus on educating young people before substance abuse begins while connecting prevention programs with communities throughout the state.
