Man Charged in Caddo County Child Abuse Case Taken Off Life Support

A man charged in multiple child abuse charges in Caddo County has been taken off life support after attempting suicide while in custody, according to authorities.

Officials say George Cole Jr., the stepfather of 12-year-old RJ Davis, attempted to hang himself last week and was later pronounced brain-dead. Medical personnel removed him from life support following the incident.

Cole had been arrested after his stepson was reported missing and later found following a nine-day search that drew statewide attention and concern.

Details of abuse allegations

Court documents allege that George Cole Jr. and his wife, Kimberly Cole, subjected the child to repeated abuse, including beating, stabbing, and tying him up. Investigators say the allegations point to ongoing mistreatment rather than a single incident.

In addition to charges related to RJ Davis, George Cole was also charged with abusing another young girl. The case is being investigated by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, while Kimberly Cole continues to face charges in connection with the alleged abuse.

Impact and ongoing proceedings

The case has sparked renewed conversations around child welfare and reporting suspected abuse. Child advocacy organizations emphasize the importance of community awareness and early intervention to protect vulnerable children.

While George Cole Jr.’s death ends criminal proceedings against him, the investigation into the abuse allegations continues. Prosecutors say the case against Kimberly Cole remains active as it moves through the court system.

Authorities continue to urge anyone with information related to child abuse or neglect to contact law enforcement or child protective services immediately.
