Logan County Deputy DUI Crash Leads to Felony Charges

Authorities say a Logan County deputy DUI crash in Edmond has led to felony charges against a local law enforcement officer.

According to the Edmond Police Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Knox is facing charges of aggravated DUI and child endangerment following a crash on March 4.

Investigators say the collision happened near 2nd Street and Interstate 35 when Knox allegedly ran a red light and struck another vehicle.


Logan County Deputy DUI Crash Involved Children

Police say two young children were inside the vehicle during the Logan County deputy DUI crash.

Authorities report Knox had his 1-year-old and 5-year-old children in the car at the time of the collision. Officials say the children were not injured and were released to their grandparents.

Officials with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Knox is employed as a deputy and has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.


Blood Alcohol Level Reported at 0.21

Investigators say Knox showed signs of impairment following the Logan County deputy DUI crash.

According to police reports, Knox’s blood alcohol content measured 0.21, nearly three times the legal limit.

Body camera footage released by the Edmond Police Department reportedly shows Knox failing field sobriety tests and telling officers, “Dude, full disclosure… I’m going to jail.”

The case is expected to proceed through the Oklahoma County District Court.
