Lance Schroyer Nominated To Lead ICE, Oklahoma Law Enforcement Background Highlighted
An Oklahoma law enforcement leader could soon take one of the nation's top immigration enforcement positions. Lance Schroyer, a former Oklahoma Department of Public Safety major and Oklahoma State Trooper, has been nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as the next director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The nomination was announced by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, who praised Schroyer's nearly three decades of law enforcement experience and urged the U.S. Senate to quickly confirm his appointment.
If confirmed, Schroyer would become the first Senate-confirmed ICE director in more than a decade and would oversee the agency's nationwide immigration enforcement operations.
Lance Schroyer Nominated To Lead ICE Following Oklahoma Career
According to the Department of Homeland Security, Lance Schroyer nominated to lead ICE follows a career spanning more than 29 years in law enforcement and public service.
Schroyer currently serves as Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Homeland Security, where he coordinates immigration enforcement strategy and works alongside local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Before joining DHS, Schroyer served as a Major with the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, overseeing the Emergency Services Unit and directing specialized teams responsible for disaster response, child recovery, immigration enforcement, dignitary protection, civil disturbance response, and threat assessment.
Schroyer also previously served as an Oklahoma State Trooper and as a United States Marine.

Secretary Markwayne Mullin Praises Law Enforcement Experience
In announcing the nomination, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said Schroyer's operational experience makes him well-qualified to lead the agency.
Mullin noted that Schroyer has helped oversee 287(g) immigration enforcement partnerships, working with state and local agencies to coordinate immigration operations, including efforts conducted in Oklahoma.
The secretary also highlighted Schroyer's background in crisis management, tactical planning, disaster response, and multi-agency coordination.
According to Mullin, President Trump selected Schroyer because of his leadership experience and ability to work directly with law enforcement agencies to carry out federal immigration policies.
The nomination now moves to the U.S. Senate, where confirmation hearings are expected before Schroyer can officially assume the role.

Senate Confirmation Process Now Moves Forward
If confirmed by the Senate, Lance Schroyer nominated to lead ICE would mark the first Senate-confirmed director for the agency in approximately 11 years, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
The director oversees one of the federal government's largest law enforcement agencies, managing immigration enforcement operations, criminal investigations, and partnerships with state and local agencies nationwide.
