Major Texoma Tourism Project Takes a Step Forward
A long-discussed development at Lake Texoma has cleared a key hurdle. Voters have approved a tax increment financing proposal (TIF) that will allow a billion-dollar resort project to move forward after years of delay.
The measure authorizes the creation of a new assistance district that will collect tax revenue for the next 25 years, with funds dedicated to building the large-scale infrastructure needed for the project.
What Pointe Vista Includes
The Pointe Vista development, originally proposed more than 15 years ago, is designed to transform the Lake Texoma region into a full tourism destination. Plans include:
A golf course
A casino
A large water park
A Hard Rock Hotel
Additional entertainment and hospitality amenities
Supporters say the project could bring new jobs, long-term tourism revenue, and improved public infrastructure to the region.
Years of Delays Now Moving Toward Construction
The proposal has faced repeated start-and-stop attempts, land-use negotiations, and financing debates since it was first announced. With the approval of the TIF district, developers can now move forward with land preparation and the next stage of planning.
Local officials say the improved tax structure is crucial for attracting private investment and building roads, utilities, and public services required for a project of this size.
Next Steps
Developers must still finalize engineering plans and secure state-level approvals. A construction timeline has not yet been released.
