Journey Drummer Deen Castronovo Hospitalized After Medical Emergency During Tulsa Concert

Journey drummer Deen Castronovo was hospitalized Thursday night, October 8, 2026, after suffering an onstage medical emergency during the legendary rock band's concert at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The 62-year-old musician was helped offstage just two songs into the performance, temporarily stopping the show as bandmates and crew members responded.

The Journey drummer medical emergency prompted a delay of approximately 15 to 20 minutes before the band resumed its concert with longtime drum technician Steve Toomey filling in behind the drum kit. Although Castronovo was transported to a Tulsa hospital, his bandmates offered reassuring comments to the audience. No official diagnosis or detailed medical update has been released.

Journey Drummer Medical Emergency Interrupts BOK Center Performance

The incident unfolded early in Journey's Tulsa concert during the band's Final Frontier tour. Castronovo was assisted offstage after experiencing an apparent medical problem, leaving concertgoers uncertain whether the performance would continue.

Keyboardist Jonathan Cain addressed the audience during the interruption, asking fans to keep the drummer in their thoughts. "Have your prayers ready for Deen Castronovo, everybody," Cain told the crowd.

Guitarist Neal Schon later confirmed that Castronovo was being taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The unexpected interruption brought concern among fans attending the highly anticipated Tulsa performance.

Journey Bandmates Reassure Fans as Concert Resumes

After the brief delay, Steve Toomey, Journey's longtime drum technician, stepped behind the kit, allowing the band to continue performing despite Castronovo's absence.

Schon offered an encouraging update during the evening, telling concertgoers, "I think he's going to be fine." Lead singer Arnel Pineda also reassured the audience, saying, "He's gonna be fine. Too much Gatorade."

Despite those optimistic remarks, the band has not publicly identified what caused the medical emergency or confirmed whether Castronovo would require additional treatment.

Journey's Final Frontier Tour Faces Uncertainty After Tulsa Incident

Castronovo has been a longtime member of Journey, contributing both drumming and vocals to the band's performances. His sudden hospitalization raises questions about his availability for upcoming concerts on the Final Frontier tour.

Fans can follow Journey's official website, the band's official social media announcements and the BOK Center's event information for updates concerning Castronovo's recovery and future performances.

As of Friday, October 9, no official announcement had been made regarding canceled or postponed tour dates.
