Jimcy McGirt is back in court on new charges

Jimcy McGirt, the man whose criminal case led to the landmark Supreme Court decision regarding tribal jurisdiction, is scheduled to be back in court today for failing to register as a sex offender. According to prosecutors McGirt was staying at a home with a child and had a phone with internet and a social media account both prohibited by sex offenders. McGirt was released from federal prison in 2024 after taking a plea deal for child sex crimes.
