An interim study to be conducted over the next three months will examine the effectiveness of court-based diversion programs.
Democratic state representative Jason Lowe said some of those programs have been very effective but are not for everyone, and people convicted of violent acts do not qualify.
“These programs are for individuals that are non-violent offenders,” Lowe said
