Integris Health Daycare Closure Announced
Employees at Integris Health are scrambling to find childcare after the hospital system announced an Integris Health daycare closure scheduled for later this year.
Workers were notified late last week through an internal email that the organization plans to shut down its childcare facilities in August.
The announcement affects two facilities operated by the health system — Children’s Place and Fun and Fit — both of which provide daycare services for employees working within the Integris network.
Hundreds of Children and Employees Impacted
The Integris Health daycare closure will impact roughly 350 children currently enrolled in the facilities.
In addition to families now searching for alternative childcare options, the shutdown will also affect staff members who work at the centers.
Hospital officials say 88 employees connected to the childcare facilities will lose their jobs when the centers close later this summer.
The announcement has created concern among hospital workers who relied on the childcare programs while working long or irregular hospital shifts.
Financial Losses Cited by Integris
According to Integris Health, the decision to proceed with the Integris Health daycare closure was based on financial losses tied to operating the childcare facilities.
Officials say the programs have been losing more than $1 million per year, making it difficult for the organization to continue operating the centers.
Employees affected by the closure now face the challenge of finding new childcare arrangements ahead of the August shutdown.
