U.S. District Judge Gregory Frizzell has raised concerns about whether the settlement amounts are sufficient to fund cleanup efforts tied to alleged poultry waste pollution in the Illinois River watershed.

During proceedings, Judge Frizzell questioned whether the deals negotiated in the Illinois River watershed lawsuit involve enough money to address environmental damage.

Gentner Drummond responds to political pressure concerns

Judge Frizzell asked Drummond whether he was bowing to political pressure to bring the Illinois River watershed lawsuit to a close.

Drummond denied that suggestion and said his priority is resolving the case responsibly.

He also expressed concern that his predecessor may not continue pressing poultry companies to reach agreements in the massive pollution case.
