Harvey Pratt, a longtime Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agent and nationally recognized Native American artist, has died at the age of 84.
Decades of Harvey Pratt Service in Oklahoma Law Enforcement
Pratt spent decades with the OSBI and was involved in nearly every major criminal investigation in Oklahoma over several generations. His work included some of the most high-profile and difficult cases in state history, including the 1977 Girl Scout murders in Locust Grove.
A Career Marked by Trust and Expertise
Colleagues described Pratt as meticulous and deeply committed to justice. His experience made him a trusted figure in complex investigations across the state.
National Recognition as an Artist
Beyond law enforcement, Pratt was also a highly respected Native American artist. A member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, he designed the National Native American Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., honoring Indigenous service members from across the country.
A Lasting Dual Legacy
Pratt’s life bridged two worlds — public service and cultural expression. His impact is felt both in Oklahoma’s criminal justice history and in national recognition of Native American veterans.
