Deputies Respond to Overdose, Uncover Disturbing Scene
Three people in Grady County are facing child neglect and drug charges after deputies discovered two young children living inside a home filled with accessible drugs.
Deputies first responded to the residence after receiving a call about William Klause, who was found overdosing inside the home.
Search Leads to Arrests
During the response, deputies searched the home belonging to Krista Cassity and Chad Hale, where they found methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia on tables, counters, and other locations easily reachable by the children.
Authorities say the combination of an overdose, unsecured drugs, and hazardous conditions resulted in multiple charges for all three suspects.
Child Safety Concerns
The two children in the home were immediately removed and placed in protective custody. The Department of Human Services is now involved, and welfare checks will continue until the children’s long-term placement is determined.
Deputies say this case reflects a growing number of child-neglect incidents tied to drug use across rural counties.
Ongoing Grady County Investigation
Authorities have not released the ages of the children, but say additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
