Glenpool Assault and Robbery Leads to Arrests of Two Women Across Eastern Oklahoma

Two women are being held in the Tulsa County Jail after Glenpool police say a man was severely beaten, struck in the head with a glass liquor bottle and robbed of his cellphone during an October 4 attack. The victim suffered a concussion and fractured orbital socket and required hospital treatment following the assault.

The Glenpool assault and robbery investigation led authorities across multiple counties before Gracie Michelle Johnson and Promise Jacelyn Russell were located and arrested with assistance from the Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police Department. Both women face preliminary complaints related to robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon, but formal charging decisions remain with prosecutors.

Glenpool Assault and Robbery Left Victim With Serious Injuries

According to investigators, the attack occurred Sunday, October 4, in Glenpool, a Tulsa County community south of Tulsa.

Police allege Johnson and Russell repeatedly assaulted a male victim by punching and kicking him and striking him in the head with a glass liquor bottle.

Investigators say the man's cellphone was also taken during the encounter, leading authorities to investigate the case as both an assault and robbery.

The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities reported he suffered a concussion and fractured orbital socket, an injury involving the bones surrounding the eye.

Detectives obtained video footage they say captured the assault and documented the victim's injuries as part of the investigation.

The Glenpool Police Department serves a jurisdiction covering more than 10 square miles in southern Tulsa County, while its Criminal Investigations Division handles serious and complex cases requiring additional investigation beyond the initial patrol response.

Police identified Johnson and Russell as suspects as detectives continued gathering evidence following the attack.

Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police Help Track Suspects

The investigation quickly expanded beyond Glenpool as authorities worked to locate both women.

Glenpool detectives received assistance from the Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police Department, reflecting the increasingly important role of cooperation between municipal and tribal law enforcement agencies across eastern Oklahoma.

The Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police Department provides law enforcement services within the Muscogee Nation Reservation and regularly works alongside local, state and federal agencies.

Authorities eventually located the two suspects in separate communities.

Gracie Michelle Johnson was found in Henryetta, approximately 40 miles south of Glenpool in Okmulgee County.

Promise Jacelyn Russell was located in Dustin, a small community farther southeast in Hughes County.

Both were taken into custody.

The arrests demonstrate the geographic reach that can be required in criminal investigations originating in northeastern Oklahoma, where suspects may quickly move across city, county and tribal jurisdictional boundaries.

Glenpool's Criminal Investigations Division specifically lists partnerships with local, state, tribal and federal agencies among the resources it uses to investigate complex cases and apprehend suspects.

Johnson and Russell Booked Into Tulsa County Jail

Following their arrests, Johnson and Russell were returned to Tulsa County and booked into the David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center, the county jail operated by the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office identifies the downtown Tulsa facility as the county's primary criminal justice center.

Both women face preliminary complaints of robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon stemming from the Glenpool incident.

An arrest or jail booking is not the same as a formal criminal conviction, and the exact charges ultimately pursued can change after prosecutors review investigative reports, witness statements, video evidence and other information collected by law enforcement.

The Tulsa County District Attorney's Office will determine which criminal charges, if any, are formally filed in district court.

The allegations involving the glass bottle could become particularly relevant to prosecutors because Oklahoma criminal law can treat an object not ordinarily considered a weapon as a dangerous weapon depending on how it was allegedly used during an assault.

Investigators have reported collecting both video evidence and documentation of the victim's injuries, potentially providing prosecutors with evidence beyond witness accounts of the encounter.

The investigation also highlights the cooperation required when suspects leave the jurisdiction where an alleged crime occurred. Glenpool detectives began with an assault inside their city but ultimately relied on regional law enforcement partnerships to locate suspects dozens of miles away.

The Glenpool assault and robbery case now moves from the investigative and arrest stage toward possible prosecution as Johnson and Russell remain accused, but not convicted, of participating in the October 4 attack. Both women are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
