Gas Prices Surge Above $4 Across All 50 States
The nationwide gas prices surge has officially pushed average fuel costs above $4 per gallon in every state across America as geopolitical instability continues disrupting global oil markets.
According to the latest data from the AAA Fuel Prices Tool, the national average price for regular gasoline has now climbed to $4.55 per gallon.
The ongoing gas prices surge is also heavily impacting Oklahoma drivers, where average fuel costs have now moved above the $4 mark heading directly into Memorial Day weekend travel.
Energy analysts say global supply disruptions, refinery limitations, and international shipping concerns continue driving prices sharply higher nationwide.
Gas Prices Surge Hitting Oklahoma Drivers Hard
The latest gas prices surge has significantly increased fuel costs for both gasoline and diesel consumers throughout Oklahoma.
According to the AAA Fuel Prices Tool, current statewide fuel averages now include:
National Regular Gas Average: $4.55 per gallon
Oklahoma Regular Gas Average: $4.08 per gallon
Oklahoma Diesel Average: $5.06 per gallon
National Premium Gas Average: $5.42 per gallon
Industry experts say rising diesel prices are especially concerning because they directly impact transportation, shipping, and supply chain costs tied to groceries and retail products.
The gas prices surge comes as millions of Americans prepare to travel for the summer vacation season.
Strait Of Hormuz Closure Driving Oil Market Instability
A major factor behind the current gas prices surge involves the ongoing closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the Strait of Hormuz serves as one of the world’s most critical oil transportation chokepoints.
Disruptions within the region have severely impacted global oil supply movement and placed immediate upward pressure on crude oil prices.
Crude oil prices are now hovering near or above $100 per barrel, forcing rapid increases at retail fuel pumps across the United States.
Meanwhile, refinery closures and reduced refining capacity continue adding additional strain to fuel production systems.
Regional Fuel Prices Vary Across The Country
Despite the nationwide gas prices surge, some regional differences in fuel pricing still remain.
According to the American Automobile Association, California currently holds the nation’s highest statewide average for regular gasoline at approximately $6.14 per gallon.
Washington follows closely behind at $5.77 per gallon.
Meanwhile, Mississippi and Texas currently report some of the nation’s lowest statewide averages, though both remain at or near the $4 threshold.
Officials encourage travelers planning road trips this summer to closely monitor fuel prices and estimate travel expenses before departing.
