Friday Is Deadline To Register For Oklahoma Primary Runoff Election

Oklahoma voters have until Friday to register to vote or update their voter registration in order to participate in the August 25 primary runoff election, where several high-profile statewide races will be decided.

The deadline applies to new voter registrations as well as changes to an existing registration, including address updates or party affiliation changes. Because Oklahoma's runoff elections are closed primaries, voters may only cast ballots in the primary election for the political party with which they are registered.

Several important statewide contests remain undecided following June's primary election and will appear on the August 25 runoff ballot.

Republican voters will choose their nominee for Governor in the race between Gentner Drummond and Mike Mazzei. Other Republican runoff races include contests for Insurance Commissioner, Labor Commissioner, and State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Democratic voters will decide their party's nominee for the U.S. Senate.

In addition to the party primary races, all Oklahoma voters will have the opportunity to vote on two state questions, regardless of political affiliation. Friday Deadline Applies To Registration And Updates

Eligible Oklahomans who are not currently registered must complete the registration process by Friday to participate in the August runoff election.

Oklahomans with a current driver's license or state-issued identification card may register or update their information online through the Oklahoma Online Voter Registration System. Registration is also available in person through local County Election Boards and designated state agencies.
