Multi-County Grand Jury Returns Former Pastor Indictment

A former Tulsa Assembly of God Church pastor is facing serious criminal charges following an indictment by a multi-county grand jury.

Joseph Campbell, 68, is accused of first-degree rape and lewd acts involving a child under the age of 16.

Allegations Date Back to the 1980s

According to the indictment, the alleged crimes occurred in 1984.

Prosecutors say one victim was approximately 12 years old, while another was 14 years old at the time of the alleged abuse.

Charges Filed Decades After Alleged Crimes

Authorities have not disclosed why the case was not prosecuted earlier, but investigators say the indictment reflects ongoing efforts to hold alleged offenders accountable regardless of how much time has passed.

Campbell previously served as a pastor at a Tulsa-area church.

Case Moves Through the Court System

The case will now proceed through the judicial process, where Campbell will have the opportunity to respond to the charges in court.
