Decades-Old Osage Case Reaches Court
A case dating back to the 1980s ended in court this week. Former evangelist and Texas megachurch founder Robert Morris pleaded guilty to five counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child in Osage County.
Details of the Abuse
Prosecutors say Morris began abusing a 12-year-old while staying with followers in Hominy. The abuse lasted four years. The case resurfaced after years of silence and moved forward with a plea deal.
Sentence Handed Down
Morris received a 10-year suspended sentence but must serve six months in the Osage County Jail. He will also remain under supervision for years to come. “Justice has been delayed but not denied,” said a local advocate for survivors.
