Authorities are investigating reports that Elgin Public Schools employees provided alcohol to minors during a recent private party attended by students.

Claims spark investigation

The incident surfaced after a social media post alleged that staff members served alcohol to students at a gathering last weekend. The post also claimed one teenager was hospitalized after consuming too much alcohol.

Elgin school officials immediately requested an investigation by state and county law enforcement to determine the accuracy of the claims.

Superintendent Nate Meraz said the district takes the allegations seriously. “Our priority is student safety. We’re cooperating fully with investigators to uncover the facts,” he stated.

State and county investigators involved

The Comanche County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation are reviewing statements from witnesses, including parents, students, and staff. Authorities are also seeking video or photos from the event to verify details.

While no arrests have been made, investigators said several individuals of interest have been identified. Officials said they intend to complete the investigation before making any formal statements or recommendations to the school board.

Elgin Community reaction

Parents in the Elgin district expressed outrage, saying the incident damages public trust. “Teachers should protect our kids, not party with them,” said one parent who asked not to be identified.

If proven true, the staff members involved could face termination and criminal charges.
