El Reno Officer Injured in Overnight Hit-and-Run

Search for Driver Underway

Authorities in El Reno are searching for a driver who hit a police officer overnight near El Reno High School, just north of Interstate 40.

Police said the officer had stopped to help a stranded motorist when a dark blue or black sedan sped by and struck him. The driver fled the scene.

Immediate Response

A witness — the stranded motorist — called 911 and stayed with the officer until emergency crews arrived. The officer was rushed to a local hospital. Officials said his injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

El Reno Investigation Continues

Police recovered vehicle debris at the scene and are reviewing nearby surveillance footage. They believe the suspect’s car sustained significant front-end damage.

Residents are urged to contact authorities if they spot a vehicle matching the description. The El Reno Police Department says it is committed to finding the driver responsible for injuring one of its own.
