Stray Cow Lassoed During Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City
An unusual scene unfolded in Oklahoma City as a stray cow ran loose through a residential neighborhood during the Cattlemen’s Congress trade show.
Residents watched in disbelief as the animal darted through streets before an unexpected hero arrived — a lone cowboy on horseback.
Cowboy Lassos Stray Cow in Neighborhood
The unidentified rider appeared with rope in hand and calmly pursued the animal, eventually lassoing the stray cow and bringing the situation under control. No injuries were reported, and property damage appears minimal.
Police say the cow was captured safely and removed from the area.
Ownership of Stray Cow Still Unknown
Authorities say it’s still unclear who owns the animal or how it escaped. With thousands of livestock professionals in the city for the Cattlemen’s Congress, investigators are reviewing whether the cow wandered from a nearby holding area or private property.
Officials praised the quick thinking of the horseback rider, saying the situation could have ended much worse without intervention.
